Getting Here

Part of the beauty of Swan's Island is that it's far enough away to serve as an escape.  It does mean getting here takes a little extra planning.  The island is only accessible two ways:

Private Water Craft

The island is home to a welcoming harbor with several private and public wharfs.  Moorings are occasionally available for rent, through the Swan's Island Yacht Club near Trafton's Wharf, about 1 mile from the motel. You should contact them directly for rates and availability: Tim Trafton 207-266-5600 or timtrafton@outlook.com; Karter Whitman 207-356-9362 or Whitman.Karter@gmail.com; Carey Navarro Phone 504-430-1427 or cnavnola@gmail.com.

Maine DOT Ferry Service

The M/V Captain Henry Lee services Swan's Island out of the Bass Harbor terminal at the southern tip of Mount Desert Island.  This ferry accommodates vehicles, pedestrians and bicycles.  The link below takes you to the DOT website where you can see current schedules and rates.

**If you are visiting the island during peak times, June - August, the ferry often fills to capacity leaving passengers waiting for 90 minutes or more for the next ferry.  We encourage you to get in line early or spend a few extra dollars to secure one of the four reserved spots on each run.  Reservations are accepted up to 30 days prior to the scheduled date of travel.**

Getting around the island

Getting from the ferry landing to the motel only requires 1 right turn and 1 left.  You should reach us in about 5 minutes.  If it takes longer than that, you probably missed the inn!  GPS is accurate if you have a signal.  You can also  print the map below.

And about your signal...US Cellular and AT&T have decent coverage on the island.  However, all other carriers are spotty at best.  You will have access to free wi-fi once you reach the motel.
